Tanglefoot Red Sphere Traps

Apple maggots are a type of fruit fly that attack apples, blueberries, hawthorn, plums, pears, and cherries. Apple maggot flies are smaller than a housefly and appear throughout the summer.

These traps are the answer to wormy apples, cherries, pears, plums, blueberries, and more. These red ball traps the apple maggot flies before the deposit their eggs. The flies are tricked into thinking the traps are apples and once they land they are stuck. Traps should be placed in mid-April, before apple fruiting and left out until harvest. Use minimum of one trap per tree for trapping. Use one trap per 5 to 10 acres for monitoring.

The Tanglefoot Red Sphere Trap Kit comes with three traps, three ties and hooks, and an 8 oz. container of brushable Tangle-Trap® Insect Trap Coating.

Bulk traps: include trap spheres only; tangletrap paste not included.

Tangle-Trap® Insect Trap Coating can be purchased separately.

2 x 8 oz cans of Tangle-Trap® Insect Trap Coating will give ample coverage of the 25 "bulk" traps.
