WeedzSTOP WeedBAN
Corn Gluten Meal - Organic Pre-emergent Weed Control

Now with WeedBAN, harmful chemical weed control use can be reduced or eliminated.

WeedBan is corn gluten meal. It is not fully understood by the researchers which ingredients actually control the seed germination. It is known that it is an extremely effective product when applied twice a year, in the Spring and Fall when weed seeds germinate. Quite simply put, the seeds where WeedBAN is applied never develop secondary feeder roots, thus the weeds cannot develop and live.

WeedBan is effective against: Crab Grass, Dandleions, Clover, Foxtail, Purslane, Lamb's Quarter, Creeping Bentgrass, Smart Weed, Redroot Pigweed, Barnyard Grass, Bermuda Grass.

WeedBan was once registered with the USEPA as an herbicide. It is so safe that the registration is no longer required. Your children and pets can play on your lawn immediately after application.

Additional fertilizer may be applied 2 to 3 weeks after WeedBAN's application. At that time a low nitrogen fertilizer may be applied. 6 to 8 weeks after WeedBAN's application, a high nitrogen fertilizer may be applied. Tests at Iowa State have shown that WeedBAN, applied twice a year over a 3 year period on a heavily crabgrass infested lawn, can reduce crabgrass by as much as 91%.

The application rate is 20 pounds per 1,000 square feet. It should be deeply watered in after application and then allow the soil to dry. On shrubbery and flower beds, WeedBAN should be worked into the top 2 to 3 inches of the soil. The WeedBAN does not appear to affect transplants or bulbs.

Do not use on newly seeded or overseeded lawns. Wait until after the first mowing.

Please note: WeedBAN will not kill existing weeds. WeedBAN will only prevent new seeds from fully developing. Existing weeds must either be physically removed or sprayed with a topical herbicide, such as those listed in the first column below.

Use WeedBan in a drop type spreader.
