Purple Scale Predator
(Lindorus lophanthae)
This black ladybeetle thrives in temperatures of 59-77 degrees F and a relative humidity of 20-90%. The primary prey of both the larvae and adults are soft scales, including black, brown, and red, although they may eat mealybugs and smaller insects. Release rates: 3-5 beetles/sq. yd. for light infestations or 4-6/sq. yd for heavy infestations. In orchards and fields, release 1,000-2,000/acre, two times, about 3 weeks apart.
