ThuricideBacillus thuringiensis var. kustakialso known as Bt var. berliner
|
Thuricide can be sprayed onto plants, where it is eaten by leaf-eating insects, including loopers, hornworms, earworms, caterpillars, gypsy moths, oakworms, meal and flour moths, diamondback moths, fruitworms, leaf folders, and most species of leaf-feeding moth and butterfly larvae. The Bt disrupts the insects' digestive system and they starve. Bt is specific to certain pest insects, can be used with nematodes, and is completely environmentally safe. Crops can be harvested the day after any Bt variety is applied.
Bt kustaki is for chewing caterpillars on broccoli, cauliflower, collards, celery, melons, potatoes, spinach, tomatoes, cucumbers, turnip greens, grapes, and tobacco. Apply when pests first appear and repeat as necessary. Apply by hose or pressurized sprayers, mist blowers, or aerial application, 1/2 tsp to 4 tsp/gal of water depending on extent of infestation.
